Another year, another gratitude list:
-French Meadow in Minneapolis where we ate Thanksgiving dinner for the 2nd year in a row. They have something for everyone, even the 4 of us who each has either dietary restrictions or some serious preferences. French Meadow gets it.
-The hummingbird tattoo I was getting in my dream last night–I’m glad it was only a dream, because even though I still plan to get a hummingbird tattoo–soon–I do NOT plan to have it take up the entire lower half of my arm. In 3D.
-Puzzles and books and the Thanksgiving goal to finish the puzzle of the world and the book, Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult. The puzzle is done, but was especially challenging due to my apparent lack of geography knowledge. I should really study this, although do I need to know at this point? The puzzle is done now.
-Memories of past Thanksgivings, especially 2 years ago when we arrived in Sun City West, Arizona in our RV to spend 5 weeks living 1.5 miles away from my mom & dad. I never took that time for granted, but the memories have increased in value since losing my dad.
-The RV trip was not my only adventure. Travel is in my blood, from the time my best friend and I took off to Florida in 1986 with no set return date, to the trip I took with Cheryl last month to New York. I’m thankful my super power is talking unsuspecting friends into going on trips with me.
-Jerry Seinfeld, who was just on the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon. Brian Regan is next. Comedy is life.
-My “Happiness Journal.” When I saw my doctor last week, he explained the benefit of a happiness journal. At the end of the day, if you write down 3 things that made you happy during the day, it rewires your brain to be more optimistic. I started doing this immediately and I think it’s going to work.
-Black Friday, but only for other people. For me it’s a day to finish that book, work on the next puzzle, and get a massage. Shopping is for next month, or the last minute, or online.
-Dogs, because they are on every gratitude list. My dog, your dog, my friend’s dog I got to visit today while they were away for the holiday. I love them all.
-Another 24 hours of life, a peaceful heart, and a tribe who helps me every day.
